DAVID ROCK Homunculus Undiscovers America Unraveling at daybreak a destination spouted off into watery doldrums. Then a lunatic appeared with many truths to debunk the beads. Blasphemy, said the saddest man in the hold. Who said anything about landfall? All the harder to rest one's head there in October for lack of better antipodes. And it still hurts like hell not to be there even now, so young, beyond the pale of accusations. David Rock teaches Spanish and international studies at Brigham Young University, Idaho. He has poems appearing in The Carolina Quarterly, New American Writing, Sugar House Review, Tampa Review, Image, Guernica, Hotel Amerika, etc. |
