SIMONE LIGGINS As All the Sayings Go So it goes. Again and again. The beat goes on the road, always, flowing through the inhale. Hear the wailing accompanying the exhale and please make it all not true. When the tears are finally tired the only way out is up! When you are shown patience, return it with love. Remember, remember, Ouroboros inked in tender flesh: the Wheel will keep spinning and thunder only happens when it's raining. But you can still save yourself, you magician, you. Time is still on your side, for you have long since known a woman's place is in the resistance. So don't forget to say her name: Willonee. Simone Liggins is from Tennessee. She has earned her MFA in Writing at the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics of Naropa University, Colorado. Her poems appeared in Boulder Weekly, and Beats. |
