LXII

Only an undertaker persists
in the alley of death.

In salt's desert
moonlight will still bloom.

When the bones are gone
anything that remains sleeps in the dust.

LXIII

I teach the translation of all languages
to the swallows and chickadees.

Show the turtle that you are
slower than he.

If you must know all about the flea
challenge it to a fight.

But the carnation already knows:
you appreciate its scent.
