JOSEPH ELLISON BROCKWAY De-Existentialize If we de-existentialize our exo-leather molding dermis from this cookie-cutter life equilibrium will soar in the clouds with Dalí's ants in a single file we can file away at our nails, whittle away at the problem but there will still exist our collective nothingness our collective destruction of life war, famine, drought we whittle away at every life-sustaining evidence of providence and elevate ourselves to demigods of greed idols if we exist and we kill then we should de-exist ourselves. Joseph Ellison Brockway is a poet, translator, and Spanish professor from Hartford, Connecticut, USA, currently working on a Ph.D. in Studies of Literature and Translation and translating Island: Mythical Coffer by Spanish surrealist Eugenio Fernández Granell. His poetry has been published in The Rising Phoenix Review, Dirty Chai, Full of Crow, and SURREAL POETICS. |
