NUALA WATT

Confidence

The goal is so often repeated
that I arrive, hugging my knees
in the curve of the C,
like a monk's squiggle.

One of the permanent dreams.

An alphabet-agile child,
I think I first got here by fever.

Granite letters.

The foolstop like a boulder.

Do not leave.
