Death of a Harlequin
after Picasso
On a bed of fading blue, I watch you
smile into a carcass
with steepled hands.
Will minstrels cry from the clouds?
Will
jugglers on the moon
fling confetti as you exhale by?
Did you breathe your mismatch
of
colors into us
for more contagious giggles?
They say, close the curtain. We say,
we're here. Through the lighthouse
of our hearts, your jig keeps time.
