Mirage
it wouldn't unclinch—
this sepia feeling fueled by daily dismays
a despair crawling close to the skin
red ferrous rage
& like a crazy optical phenomenon
intimacy becomes celibacy
marriage—a mirage.
Edytta Wojnar was born and raised in Poland, and now lives in New Jersey, where she teaches College Writing and Literature. She is the author of Dandelions in Thirds Space published by Stephen F. Austin State University Press in 2022 and the chapbooks Stories Her Hands Tell (2013) and Here and There (2014), both published by Finishing Line Press. Her work has appeared in The American Journal of Poetry, Cagibi, CALYX, Glassworks, Lips, Lumina, Paterson Literary Review, SurVision, etc.
